Everyone loves chicken wings, whether you’re cooking them in a restaurant or at home – baked, grilled or deep fried, anything goes. Chicken lovers all have their preferred flavour combo when it comes to wings, and here’s three of our favourites for you to try.
These recipes are based on 1kg of chicken wings.
Sticky honey sesame wings
This sweet and salty combination is perfectly sticky – a finger licking sensation.
Marinate your wings in:
4 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons kecap manis (sweet soy sauce)
2 tablespoons runny honey
1/2 tablespoon sesame oil
2 cloves minced fresh garlic
2 tablespoons sesame seeds (to garnish)
Buffalo wings
For those who prefer a spicier kick, this buffalo marinade is perfectly served alongside a cooling blue cheese dip.
For the marinade:
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
4 tablespoons bottled hot pepper sauce
1 tablespoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
For the blue cheese dip:
1/2 cup of sour cream
1/2 cup of crumbled blue cheese (we love Stilton!)
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon white wine vinegar or white vinegar
1 clove of minced garlic
Yoghurt marinated wings
Not a typical marination for wings, but not compromising on flavour either.
You will need:
1/2 cup plain yoghurt
1/2 tablespoon smoked paprika
1/2 tablespoon onion powder
1/2 tablespoon salt
3/4 tablespoon light brown sugar
3/4 teaspoon chilli powder
3/4 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon oregano
1/4 teaspoon thyme
1/2 tablespoon parsley
Serve your wings with a side of wedges, fries, rice, coleslaw, baked potatoes or a selection of crudites.
Wash down the spice and sweetness with a cold, refreshing beer. Browse our selection here.
TOP TIP: to crisp up your wings, cut through the bone at the joint of the wing to create niblets. Make sure you have a sharp knife to do so.
