Morrisons and ALDI have announced their intentions to raise the price of milk paid to dairy farmers. This comes after pressure from the National Farmers Union, who say that dairy producers are facing a “state of emergency” because the price of milk has fallen by a quarter since the last year. In addition to this, Morrisons has said that it will launch it’s own new brand, Morrisons Milk for Farmers, which will cost 10p more per litre than standard milk, and the premium will be paid to farmers.
