JJ Foodservice helps local Enfield businesses to thrive

Updated: Feb 26

National wholesaler JJ Foodservice has helped to bring Enfield’s restaurants, takeaways and caterers together with big food and drink brands following the launch of its Trade Days.

Local businesses attended the event yesterday at the group’s Enfield HQ to sample a range of products and meet manufacturers, including Coca Cola, Innocent Drinks, Britvic, LavAzza, New York Bakery Co and Kerry Foods.

Enfield Council’s newly elected leader Nesil Caliskan (pictured right), opened the day and said that Enfield based companies such as JJ Foodservice are helping local enterprises to flourish.

“JJ Foodservice is making a major contribution in this area, in providing jobs for hundreds of people. It is a genuine Enfield success story and a vital part of the food supply chain, which businesses including schools, pubs and hotels rely on.”

It is also plays a key part in bringing businesses together to share best practice, promote their services to residents and discuss common issues. “It is the glue that binds our food industry together,” she added.

A strong social conscience

Ms Caliskan is the first woman to hold the position in the borough and possibly the youngest in London. She applauded JJ Foodservice for its strong social conscience, making significant contributions towards promoting healthy eating.

“They (JJ Foodservice) are leading the way in backing the Healthy Catering Commitment which aims to reduce obesity levels in Enfield and works with both Enfield Council and businesses to encourage people to consume more fruit and vegetables and reduce the size of takeaway portions,” she said.

Also supporting the event was Kingfisher Fish and Chips, the UK’s no.1 Chippy 2017 (pictured below), cooking up free mini samples of JJ products.

Group General Manager for JJ Foodservice, Terry Larkin added, “We hope that we created a fun and inspiring day to bring local Enfield food businesses together with big brands and Award-winning operators. Big thank you to our dedicated team, customers and supplier partners for making it a great day.”

Nine more Trade Days are scheduled for other JJ branches across the U.K. between June and September. All events are free of charge – register at www.jjfoodservice.com/opendays
