Customer profile: Jashan celebrates success!

Updated: Feb 26

This month during National Curry Week on 10-16th October the nation will be celebrating one of it’s favourite dishes – curry! So we decided to profile one of our top curry customers in London, Jashan.

North-London based Jashan first opened its authentic Indian eatery in 1990 and was a proud supplier to the prestigious food halls of Harrods and Selfridges. Twenty-six years later, business is still booming and the restaurant has earned its place as one of London’s top Indian restaurants, with 90% of Trip Advisor reviewers rating the venue as ‘very good’ or ‘excellent’.

Restaurant owner and director Salil Dixit goes to great lengths to introduce inspired recipes to the menu.

“I travel to Bombay three times a year and always bring ideas back – customers love how authentic and unusual our dishes are. Our Race-Course Ka Kheema, for instance, literally came from a dish I tried while visiting Mumbai’s popular race course – it’s now a popular item on our specials menu.”

Salil invests in only the best ingredients for his restaurant – best sellers include marinated lamb chops, garlic butter king prawns and Afghani chicken.

“We get most of our ingredients from JJ Food Service – the quality is excellent and the prices are competitive. The Welsh lamb in particular is incredibly tasty and great value. I place my order every week via the JJ App – it’s so easy to use I can even place orders when I’m in India! It’s great to stay in control of my business when I’m half way around the world. Our delivery always turns up on time and if I ever need support, the JJ team is there for me.”

A bit about curry

Curry has become an integral part of British cuisine with more than 9000 Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi restaurants across the UK and about 23 million people eating the dish regularly. And with the nation’s appetite for Indian cuisine showing no sign of slowing, it’s critical to take advantage of every opportunity to grow sales.

To support restaurants and takeaways during National Curry Week, we will be emailing our top Curry Week tips and recommended products to all registered JJ customers.
